First bear siting in the wild.

Post by CDN_Merlin »

Well, yesterday I saw my first bear in the wild. Sadly, it was a bit to close to home. I live south of the city of Ottawa in a suburb called Barrhaven. On the way home last night after work (by bus) I saw 2 cops, 1 was walking and 1 in the car following. Then I noticed a bear cub near the fence next to the railroad tracks.

Sad to say the closest forest is a long ways away but it just shows you how much we are infringing on their territory. Hopefully they didn't kill it.

Haven't heard anything in the news about it.

I had a similar feeling the other day. We saw a horned lizard (or horned toad) which is suppose to not exist in our city any more. It was a big deal to us. It looked pretty healthy as it darted away from where we were standing. I also saw a yellow scorpion on my jogging route. Those are also a really rare find. I kinda pushed the scorpion off the route so no one would hurt it. I bet most people would have hurt it if they had the chance.

Being a photographer of nature animals, I can't get myself to harm any. Wish I had my camera yesterday, would of gotten off the bus and taken pics.
