Hasta la vista
AZ law is making a impact on Hispanics. They are leaving.
As far as people leaving: This kinda of reminds me of a scifi short story that I read recently, where the law enforcers could destroy anyone that they wanted to, because the laws were so strict that they made everyone a criminal.
It reminds me of this in this sense: on the subject of illegal immigration, in the US it's become a matter of culturally acceptable breaking of the law; now people are running scared because Arizona is making new laws about how the old laws should actually be enforced? That spells a problem with the law enforcement of the existing laws.... Either they need to be taken seriously, or they need to be abolished. The way that we're culturally comfortable with ignoring the laws that aren't convenient is a problem; it either sets us up for all being criminals at the mercy of a dictatorship, or finding ourselves descending into anarchy because more and more laws are ignored.
Summary: as a culture we need to more consistency between the way that we live and the way that we talk. We need to uphold the values that we claim especially when they are hard to live out, instead of cherry picking times to observe them and ignore them.

Do the courts even check immigration status normally? Last time I went to court (this is in California) for a ticket most the people there were hispanic who were caught driving without a license. I imagine there are a lot who are illegal who can't get a license.
On a similar note, I was in the car with my Mexican frind one day and made a comment about a slow driver on the freeway. \"Man this guy is so slow, he must not have a license!\" My friend was like \"how did you know that?\" Lol, kinda obvious.

Why doesn't it work?
