New monitor won't work

Post by thewolfe »

I was given a 19LV505 LCD HTTV/DVD combo http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/televisions ... el=19lv505

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 530 with NVIDIA GeForce 8300GS video card.

Do I need a new video card?

Just want to be able to use my computer (no video games) and/or watch TV on it.

I assume you are going in with the 15 VGA video cable ?

Does it work otherwise ?

Do you get nothing on the screen ?

It may only take certain resolution inputs for the
PC input. I don't see the manual online, so I can't say.

Try preseting your video res to the native 1440 x 900
or 720x1280

If you have the adpater handy that video card can output via HDMI, you could hook up that way.

The manual is at the link I posted. I'll try your suggestions.

It is.

Haven't tried it as a TV but was working a few moths ago as TV for the person that gave it to me. Never been hooked up to a computer before.

It shows menu and Input - DVD or Video.

I'd be willing to bet all you need to do is change the input selection.

Got it. Wasn't in \"Setup but when I started to go up and down on the \"CH\" Channel button it gave me choices for \"PC\".

You got that right.

BTW the manual is under the \"Resources\" tab on the above link.

I would also like to connect sound from my Dell to the monitor but the \"PC Audio In\" jack doesn't look standard.

Well this is good enough for now.

Thanks for the input, as always.

The audio in is a standard little cable.
Takes you from the 'Mini' phone jack type on the PC to 2 RCA plugs (left and right)

Should find it at your Radio Shack, or order online.
