Narutards
That last episode was the greatest animated fight I've ever seen...

Except a ton of people seem to hate the animation because \"the faces look weird\". They apparently prefer the talking heads crap that the show usually passes off as \"animation\", for once the anime actually had more frames than the manga so I thought it was great.
BTW the animation director for that episode also did the episode in the original that had Naruto vs Sasuke at the falls and has done similar animation in other series (I actually recognized the style which was pretty cool).

You want to see some really good Japanese Animation, watch either 'Howl's Moving Castle' or 'Spirited Away'. Both are very well done. By the way, season 3 of 'Boondocks' is running on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim now, but the animation looks a little different. The facial expressions are a more extreme anime style it seems.

Oh yeah, those are great, but "spirited away" is somehow my favorite out his movies.tunnelcat wrote:You want to see some really good Japanese Animation, watch either 'Howl's Moving Castle' or 'Spirited Away'. Both are very well done.
I like it, but some people I know take it seriously and, as a result, negatively. It's great satire, that lacks smiley faces.tunnelcat wrote:By the way, season 3 of 'Boondocks' is running on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim now, but the animation looks a little different.
More than southpark? :ptunnelcat wrote: The facial expressions are a more extreme anime style it seems.

If it is Miyazaki / Studio Ghibli movies you are talking about, there are plenty more than just those two.tunnelcat wrote:You want to see some really good Japanese Animation, watch either 'Howl's Moving Castle' or 'Spirited Away'. Both are very well done.
Also there are a couple movies from a fairly new director Mamoru Hosoda at Madhouse that were pretty good: "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and "Summer Wars".
Back on topic the animation director responsible for the Shippuuden episode we are talking about was Wakabayashi Atsushi, and the other episode I mentioned was the original series episode 133.

This season, YES! I mean the facial expressions are absolutely wild when they do a closeup, giant eyes and big triangular shaped mouths, drool and blood flying, hair spiking about, all in anime style. Looks like Japanese Black people! South Park is just computerized cutout animation, not even close.Isaac wrote:More than southpark? :ptunnelcat wrote: The facial expressions are a more extreme anime style it seems.
