I have never ever killed the guide bot, how do you do it? Also i have died to many times...

D1 on insane, better than 160 extra lives by the end of the game.

I was getting between 162-168 xtra lives at the end of d1 on insane. could get more by milking end boss.

Well I don't remember the number of lives now, but have played through D1 on Ace without dying once. Didn't try Insane yet, takes too long... It's not like you can dodge the spam fest.

On D2 (via D2x-rebirth on my laptop), on Hotshot, I've got like about 84 lives and I've beaten the game without dying

I didn't know you could kill the guidebot. Long ago I finished D1 with 60 lives on Hotshot. I need to go through it again though.

The most lives I got was over 70 at the end of Lost Levels... but that's just because there are so many extra life powerups on the last level.

EDIT: the first time I beat D2 Counterstrike I think I had exactly forty-two lives at the end... lol. (I beat the game not only with lives, but also with the universe and everything

Hotshot I think I had 15 or 16 lives by the end, but the most I've gotten in Ace so far is 12.

I managed over 70 in Ace in D1 recently... starting from level 11. I eventually was using more save/reloads than I really should have though.

Some time soon I'll try the same in D2 without the \"save\" crutch I guess.

Chances are I can still do OK.

79 in D2 Hotshot. I probably would have gotten 80 or 81 if I had stuck around at the Matcens creating bots until they stopped.

Just finished a 9.5-hour playthrough of D2 on Ace, with 90 lives at the end of it. Things kind of went south in the last 4-5 levels, started dying too much. One reload during the level 16 boss... became clear pretty fast he wasn't a rushable one...

I'm on level 12 of a playthrough of D1 on Ace. I currently have 43 extra lives. The first secret level was actually surprisingly easy compared to a couple of the levels before and after it.
