Anyone know of a decent one, w/out virii.

Inkscape rocks. I'm not a graphics guy, but one thing I use it for is copying the vector figures out of *.pdf files and saving them to some native vector format, as opposed to the less elegant take-a-screenshot approach which of course unnecessarily rasterizes them.
