Under a little-noticed provision of the recently passed financial-reform legislation, the Securities and Exchange Commission no longer has to comply with virtually all requests for information releases from the public, including those filed under the Freedom of Information Act.
The law, signed last week by President Obama, exempts the SEC from disclosing records or information derived from \"surveillance, risk assessments, or other regulatory and oversight activities.\" Given that the SEC is a regulatory body, the provision covers almost every action by the agency, lawyers say. Congress and federal agencies can request information, but the public cannot.
Information will not be withheld just because I say so; it will be withheld because a separate authority believes my request is well-grounded in the Constitution. Let me say it as simply as I can: transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency,\"

That promise alone is the epitome of politician-covers-his-own-ass 101!
Let me translate:
'When I withhold information I will not man up and take responsibility for doing it, I will be sure to have someone to blame for doing so.
Let me say it as simply as I can: The promise of transparency will be broken by my teams interpretation of the constitution whenever we can get away with it...and that will be the touchstone of my occupation of the Whitehouse.'
Whenever Obama says: "As I've said before" or 'Let me say it as simply as I can" what follows is a lie. I'd love to play poker with the guy because he is easy to read.
Have any of you read about the finance disclose act or the law he signed in concering interpol? We will be a Socialist Nation before long with no rights what so ever. The man has thrown the Constition right out the window.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

Palin 2012
looking at the pattern, palin would likely be more of the same.
promise in the campaign to end this nonsense, then promptly resume this nonsense upon entering office.
it's amusing how much people mock the "change" theme in the obama campaign, failing to notice that that is effectively the theme of every campaign of ever president for over 100 years. i think the last notable presidents to campaign on not changing from the last guy's plans were the bunch who followed Jackson's ideas after his term was over.
I fixed that for him and then I attest that that is a true statement from him. Governing power is fixing to shift from a nationalist one to one that is global and he is not being subtle or secretive about it at all.
There are 2 types of perception. One is where you judge a person when when you actually meet them, the other is when the media steers your perception in a certain direction.
a good case in point is I use to really dislike Muhammad Ali as I thought he was a flaming ahole from what I saw on TV. Then I got a chance to see him do a public sparring exhibition at the Navy Pier in Chicago. Complete opposite from what I thought he was like. He was friendly and never a foul word. Talked with people around the ring and not a sign of his arrogant displays I saw on TV. So be careful how you \"perceive\" people.

o cool ^_^
Sounds a lot like what happened in Descent 3. Except you have me instead of Muhammad Ali (or Sarah Palin for that matter) and haterz instead of the media.
There still trying to push this through!! I did some reading on this and it not only applies to donations but any electronic communication that is directed at a politician, good or bad, has money behind it or not unless it is approved by the FEC. Electronic includes the internet, phone/texting all of it. It is a very broad statement when it only uses the words electronic communication.
Freedom of speech goes buh bye.
