There are also some greasemonkey scripts that will force you to the https version of many sites that offer it. Kinda nice if you access at public locations.
Why doesn't it work?

I think the https descentbb.net is a hacker site. At least that's what chrome tells me.

More then likely what chrome is complaining about for .net on https is that the security certificate is invalid, which it will probably stay that way because getting a valid one isn't worth the trouble for a tiny internet forum like this.
