Newer Power Supplies..
Quick question - has the \"P4\" connector on newer power supplies been replaced? I know the six-core CPU's take more power, and Motherboards that support them have a new 8-pin connector..
Has the 8-pin cable replaced the P4 Cable?

Cost a little more but it has p4 connections and the 8 pin connections.

Re:
A lot of motherboards come with onboard video these days and it is fine if you are not a gamer. That motherboard has a PCIe x16 slot anyway that can probably take a more powerful video card if he wants or needs. Just no SLI but hardly anyone does that.Heretic wrote:Do you really want onboard video?
Why doesn't it work?

Exactly - I have all the other parts to build a Budget gaming rig. I just need to spend about $100 to get it all goingXamindar wrote:Just no SLI but hardly anyone does that.

What you are looking for is a PSU that is compatible with ATX v2.2 / ATX12v which means it includes the 4 pin power connector. Most newer PSUs are also EPS12v compatible with means it can do the 8 pin power connection too.
So a pure EPS12v PSU is not what you are looking for, but I don't think I've ever seen a pure EPS12v PSU. They are all ATX12v + EPS12v compatible with a 4 / 8 pin connector or just pure ATX12v with only the 4 pin.
