The 26-year-old simply typed in the name of his city, but was subsequently accused of violating Microsoft's LIVE Code of Conduct. Moore attempted to resolve the situation by contacting customer service, but was warned off using the name--even after asking the rep to Google Fort Gay's zip code. The town's mayor David Thompson got involved, but was reportedly told by Microsoft that the veracity of the city's name didn't matter, and that the word \"gay\" was inappropriate regardless.

That's pretty hypocritical of them considering my son was running around in modern Warfare 2 with a \"reward\" of a marijuana leaf called high command. Which I wasn't too happy about. I guess their rules only apply to us sheep and not their money makers.

Microsoft apologized to him, reinstated his account, and has put in writing that \"Fort Gay, West Virginia\" is an acceptable location name.
