Internet capability on TVs?

Post by thewolfe »

I'm going to be buying a new flat screen TV and wondered what the Internet capabilities are all about.

From what I can see it's only for streaming movies.

Is there other capabilities? Internet searching?

RTFM?

It probably varies by model.

Not sure but I'd fugure it's be for surfing the web and viewing pictures. Not really something I want to do on my TV.

I use Tivo to watch most programs. Don't watch many things live. There are times when I want to search for something I've seen so I was wondering if there was a Google type search ability.

I wouldn't count on internet search / browser ability built in for quite a while. Doing so requires a more robust operating system and hardware than they currently want to pack into a TV and it also opens up avenues that could damage existing cable TV / content industry revenues.
