I've just installed Deus Ex 1 the other day on my Windows 7 laptop and this morning and yesterday morning at 8am the game music starts playing and an error message pops up. The game was not running prior in either instance. I would have a screencap of the error message but I was asleep at the time, so all I wanted to do was kill it and return to bed.
I've checked for spyware/malware and viruses with no dice. Does anyone have any clue why this might be happening?
game starts up by itself
Classic game.
I seem to recall that happening to me once, when I left the game cd in the drive. I don't recall the details, but I think it was particular to the game & leaving the CD in the drive. Maybe the autostart ini for the cd has a refresh time to it? Anyways, try taking the CD out of the drive, and see if it keeps happening.

It's got a battery! I'm doomed!Isaac wrote:This sounds scary, like that movie where the TV turns on and that girl comes out. Unplug your computer and see if it the same error occurs.
