In many ways, this seems to be an almost exact copy of \"Elite\" or more properly an \"evolution\" of \"Frontier: Elite II.\"
Elite was a great game that started the whole space trade/piracy/mercenary rpg genre. I remember playing it on my old Commodore 64. It was quite addictive even for an ancient machine like the C-64.
