Will we ever see a WM WM presidential ticket again?

Post by Gooberman »

Americans like America, and even more so, they like making American history. One unavoidable consequence of the 2008 election, is that politicians now know that making American history brings out the base. And I predict that this will be milked heavily.

I don't agree with people who think Sarah Palin cost McCain the election, (though personally, she ruled out my vote). Sarah Palin gave the ticket excitement. I predict that this trend will continue through our life times, and that the days of a white male, white male ticket are over.

However, throughout our life times, I bet that there will still be one white male on every ticket.

:)

It is very sad that you are right....not any reflection on you but on us for corrupting the process every way we can.

Well, when we have the Chamber of Commerce funneling huge sums of concealed domestic and foreign money to back pro-corporate/global commerce candidates and run attack ads against mostly lefties and Democrats, we'll get junk anti-American foreign influenced candidates running for office from now on. It's been proven that the more money that's spent on a particular candidate or measure, the more likely they or it will win an election.

Ummmm hmmmmmmmmm.

They claim that the money they receive from foreign sources is kept separate from their campaign funding and the Chamber of Commerce DOES collect foreign money. Well, money is money last time I looked, and it all goes into their same big 'general account' pot they control. And these Republican-backed groups are outspending Democratic-backed groups 7 to 1 in this election. You do the math as to where the money disparity is coming from. Do you want to get rid of the corporate control of our government Will? It ain't going to happen as long as corporate and foreign funds are influencing our elections, because the sheeples of this country are known to be suckers for the most campaign ads they happen to see.

So you mean something like Service Employees International Union and other International Unions, which gets multinational funds to spend on campaigns for the left?

Oh come on! You mean to tell me that unions have endless wads of cash to spend on electing pro-union people into office? What a crock! Campaign spending is so lopsided in favor of corporations now that there is NO WAY Labor Unions could even come close to the kind of spending big business and banks can put into the effort.

Either campaign contributions have to be transparent as to the source for all to see, or NO corporate or union money should be allowed on election spending. This hidden stuff is just crooked and ripe for abuse.

You are preaching to the chior TC. I've told you a thousand times I'm in favor of NO Contributions of any kind by anyone who isn't a registered voter. NO Lobbiests AT ALL...make it a felony to provide funds or services of any kind to a candidate or incumbent. Etc. Etc.

But you, on the other hand, only come out to point at the right side and as long as people like you provide any kind of rationale for distinguishing between the left and right then they will hold on to the status quo!

As for who is outspending in this election. Don't take it as proof the repubs are worse at taking money from bad actors. It is merely proof that the demos have lost support from a lot of former contributors because they have really driven the economy into the dirt with their social bull★■◆● programs.
You can find the data if you look, there was a story in a major paper recently detailing how the dems were having trouble raising funds from their regular big donor corporations because of Obamanomics.

Well, I do agree 100 percent. They're all rotten to the core and NO campaign money should be coming from any groups like lobbyists, unions, PAC's or corporations to ANY party, especially undisclosed sources of money. It's just that there are no good alternatives to vote for at the moment that will guarantee the ouster of these morons. Dems, meh! Repubs, meh! Tea Party, one hundred times meh!

For example, our choice for governor in Oregon is between a 'retread' previously elected Democrat or a Republican sock puppet I've taken to calling 'Lurch' (he's 6' 11\" and used to be an NBA basketball player). What a choice. Do I vote for death by 'poison' or death by 'firing squad'!
