Start Windows or \"Launch Startup Repair\"
If I choose Windows it will restart with the same message.
This is on a Dell Dimmension E310.
Can I launch \"Startup Repair\" w/o an XP disk and if so will it repair the OS or wipe out the data and install a new OS?
If I need an XP disk, will I need the one that came with the computer.
I'm able to see the drive on another computer and it has \"C\" and \"D\" System Reserved so I'm assuming it's Win7?
My friend is out of the country so no info at this point.
Getting message at startup
I strongly recommend reading this web page.
In any event, the easiest way to fix this (in my opinion) is to back up all your important data on a second computer, reformat, and port all your old data back. This is pretty much what I do with all computer problems these days. It's much simpler and less time consuming that other methods, especially for Dells with their built-in recovery partitions. (press CTRL+F11 repeatedly upon system boot to access)
