Well it's things like this that would make anyone vote against Obama and his party:
Since when does a sitting president (with the notable exception of NIXON) refer to any fellow citizens as \"enemies?\"
What does Obama mean by \"Our enemies?\" Rather chilling to hear your own president call citizens of the US- those which disagree with his agenda- ENEMIES.

If by just as bad in this election cycle is he finally throwing some decent verbal punches... then I guess so. Policy wise I don't think he could ever measure up to the colossal failure of Bush.
I think a better thread would be on how the Republican minority leader bitched and moaned and cried about how Obama wasn't being bipartisan enough and now that he smells blood he's on the radio saying THERE WILL BE NO COMPROMISE AT ALL. Finally showing his true colors.

Not quite as bad no. He hasn't started anything all that new, for example. However, hes done less than nothing to end a lot of the stuff Bush started.Spidey wrote:So you admit…Obama is just as bad as Bush.
When elections come around I generally look at who has the power and vote in the opposite direction. Why? Because the only thing the US government does is stomp on its citizens, and consensus makes that go faster, which is bad. Changing who has power on a regular basis slows things down and lets us keep our rights longer.
This year, however, I'm going to be voting democratic, as I have a feeling Obama would get along better with a republican congress than he does with the democratic one he has now.
In the end whether its 5 or 50 years down the road, the US will become just as bad as that communist behemoth we had a cold war with, or that nazi regime we had an a-bomb race with back in the 40s. At which point, anyone who values their liberty will have long since moved to greener pastures.
Unless of course, we gut both the Democrap and Republipoop parties, and put actual leaders in congress.

So is the communist/progressive wing of the DNC sending out operatives like you to forums like ours to try and convince us people like Stalin/Mao/Chavez were really concerned about their citizens? Can you give us examples of real socialist governments that aren't failing?Mjolnir wrote:On the upside, a socialist might actually give a damn about the people he represents. Oh, when my stash of southeast asian opium laced weed ran out I stopped smoking. Nothing local compares.

Linking communists with progressives is really quite silly, you must watch a lot of Glenn Beck and for that I just feel sorry for you.woodchip wrote:So is the communist/progressive wing of the DNC sending out operatives like you to forums like ours to try and convince us people like Stalin/Mao/Chavez were really concerned about their citizens? First off, learn the difference between communism/stalinism, maoism, marxism, etc. They all have differences. I know, it's hard to not stamp your McCarthyism on every idea outside of your very narrow box but try it and see what happens.
Let's also remove the stigma of progressivism, especially since that also has taken different meanings through out history. As an example of taking care of it's citizens, it was progressives who wanted to make sure your meat wasn't rotten at the grocery store, to keep kids in schools not sweat shops and mines, who wanted to improve working conditions for the working class. What evil people...
The premise of your question though is inherently false, as there never has been a true, full blown socialist state but there are plenty of Governments that tie in socialism with their democratic Governments that are doing quite well, and in fact are doing better than us by leaps and bounds on some fronts, things like corruption and health care. Denmark, Germany, France, Canada, the list goes on... though if you wanted something more near your socialist/communist nightmare you could say China is definitely not collapsing.
Excluding China, some of the states previously mentioned are both healthier and happier than us... so people can scream that "WE'RE NUMBER 1!!!!" till they're blue in the face but some things are just more important then an out dated idea of superiority.

David Horowitz grew up with communist parents. To hide the stigma, Horowitz says they decided to call themselves "Progressives". Now, unless you have some inside information to the contrary, I once again suggest you broaden your education beyond the Huffington Post and Media Matters. What is truly silly are people like you who refuse to look behind the curtain and see who the Wizard of Oz really is.Mjolnir wrote:

It took me a couple moments to get over the irony of using someone like David Horowitz as an example of "OMG PROGRESSIVES ARE COMMUNISTS." You might want to look in the mirror with the behind the curtain bull ★■◆●, as David Horowitz most be the most honest, reliable source.. writing for Newsmax, leaning to the far right and being used as a source for people like Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich doesn't put you high up on credibility scale.woodchip wrote:David Horowitz grew up with communist parents. Now if you had used someone that was actually reliably part of the progressive movement... say someone like Theodore Roosevelt who had said that then maybe there would be a discussion. However, you sound even worse then Glenn Beck with the "This right wing, conservative writer said his parents were COMMUNISTS! and they just decided to call themselves progressives to HIDE IT!" That is obviously the end-all-be-all of evidence that progressives are COMMUNISTS
Try reading something besides propaganda and maybe one day, you too can have an educated opinion instead of parroting high school like rumors.

"Why is this so remarkable? It's remarkable because historically, communist involvement at these rallies has been meticulously concealed, hidden from progressives, with the communists using the progressives as props -- as dupes.
Back then, the communists' stunning successes suckering progressives shocked even Moscow. They fooled them right up to the front gates of the White House in the summer of 1940, where the hideous communist front the American Peace Mobilization duped even the New York Times into headlining it as a "clergy group." They pulled off an extraordinary stunt in Chicago in the summer of 1968, sabotaging the Democratic National Convention. Communists managed to enlist progressives into undermining their own Democratic presidents and parties and platforms.
How long has this continued? All the way to the 2008 election.
Consider the group Progressives for Obama, formed during Obama's presidential bid. It was loaded with and even founded by some hardcore communists from the 1960s. Consider merely two of them: Tom Hayden, one of the group's four founders, and Mark Rudd, one of the 94 original signers. Hayden and Rudd had been leaders of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), which subverted the policies and plans of Democratic presidents ranging from Vietnam to the 1968 convention. In 2008, both Hayden and Rudd suddenly reemerged as "Progressives for Obama."
