Upgrading my headset w/ mic

Post by thewolfe »

I'm using a Plantronics headset w/mic that uses 3.5 male jack.

I have the mic cable plugged into the \"mic\" port on the back of the computer and the other cable on the headset I ran up to my desk. I can either listen threw the speakers or I can plug the cable into my speakers so I can listen threw the headset and cuts off the speakers.

I want to purchase a new USB headset like the following. http://tinyurl.com/37zv3al

How can I set it up so I can still either listen threw the the speakers or the headset.

so, do you want to:
  • wear the headphones and not mute the speakers?
  • wear the headphones and mute the speakers?

That would be a yes to both. I would like to be able to do either which I can do with my present setup. Would like to go to USB for better overall performance.

USB won't offer any improved performance.

Know anything about Bluetooth headsets w/ mic?

If I don't worry about speakers and want to get rid of some wires.

I use my headset for Skype, Google Talk and Dragon Nat Speaking.

Heard bluetooth isn't that great. Guess I'll stick with what works.

Thanks for the posts.
