D3 autoselect issues

Post by CDN_Merlin »

I've started playing more D3 multi and I've noticed some weird bugs.

I was playing Skybox last night and had all the weapons. I'd charge up the fusion and then all of a sudden, it would switch to the Vauss. Or it would end up switching to the EMD of which I don't have on autoselect.

It's weird. I'll disable autoselect tonight and see if it still happens, if I get a change to play.

Intermittent switching isn't because of AutoSelect. AutoSelect is only applied when you hit a weapon pickup or run out of ammo.

Check your settings to see what button/key is bound to \"Cycle Primary\". I'm betting it's either getting inadvertently hit, or it's bound to something it shouldn't be.

Good call, never thought about that, but ever since I started playing in 1994, I've had the same setup and never had this issue. Will check tonight.

The only things I ever cycle are secondaries, and I wish there was a way I could disable autoselect on them while still being able to cycle.

Picking up a new gun in the middle of a fight is far too disruptive for me, so all primaries are disabled as far as autoselect is concerned. My keyboard config is based on homerow ASDF, so 12345 are all easily reachable.

Also: sometimes I've seen the keyboard issue that others have mentioned of key combinations crashing manifesting itself as a third, totally unrelated, keypress being recorded. If you don't have a keybinding issue in D3, try opening a word processor, and press the key combinations that you normally would in the game. If a random character shows up with a certain combination, make sure that character isn't bound to the cycle weapon button.

I check my bindings, the weapon cycle is the default . and , and I'm no where near those keys as I use A and Z and the space bar on my KB.

If you don't use the weapon-cycle, just clear the binding (Ctrl-C or maybe Ctrl-D, I don't remember).

Ok so I removed the association for the cycle and I played yesterday. The issue was still happening. I guess the last thing I can do is to re-install.

Make sure your mouse or some other controller doesn't have a button mapped to autocycle.

My above post is incorrect. I removed the cycle and also disabled all the autoselect but found it to hard to switch weapons manually. So I redid the autoselect and it started doing it again. I guess I'll have to live with it.

So what is the weapon-cycle bound to?

If you can figure out why that control is intermittently getting hit (button/key going bad? accidentally brushing the button? anomalous keystroke because of multiple keys hit?), you'll have the root of the problem.

I've removed all weapon cycle bindings. I've never used them. I use the default A/Z for moving and space to AB. When I was in a game yesterday, I set my auto-select and when i quit and came back, they had reverted back to how they were. So I quit D3(from Vortex) and started it up myself. Assigned all my auto-selects and saved and quit D3.

I think this has worked for me. Need to play more and see.

I love having a button for every weapon!

I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.
