Since editing my own posts doesn't work, i've been making and then subsequently deleting a post of my own in that thread trying to get it right.
It may have caused the issue.

That sometimes does it. If you can find the original post form in your browser history, posting a new reply to the thread tends to bring it back.

Nah, actually just going back into your history and viewing any post in the thread is usually sufficient to make the topic visible on the forum again.
