i can just see it now.......Smart Cards that have degrading transistors and degrading plastic cases.
that's been known years ago. cdr's lifetime was estimated of about 10 years back then. i myself had well known brand cdr's which worked fine for 4 years, one or two of them then suddely wouldn't work anymore.
i remember that brand clearly because i thought they make reliable products until this happened. but hey, there's always an xx%-error quota.
anyway, no matter what brand it is, i'm going to backup my backup cdr's every five years or so, just to be safe.
the only medium i know of, which lasts a few million years, is stone. heh
