Poor Bloody Queensland...

Post by Gekko71 »

Immediately after suffering floods to an area the size of Germany and France combined, Queensland has now been hit by two tropical cyclones (Hurricanes).

The first hit a few days ago. The Second is a category Five (the highest) and will batter 500km of populated coastline in about half an hour with a full evening of 300KMH winds (187 MPH).

Currently the SES (emergency services) are chasing around a few idiots who have refused to evacuate and are now in direct danger.

If there's anyone on the board willing to say a quick prayer for the folks up there, it would be both timely and very much appreciated. :(

EDIT - 9.5 m waves measured off Townsville. Significant flooding in low lying areas Link.

Wow. I'd heard about the recent floods, but didn't hear until yesterday about the hurricane.

I know we have a few folk here from down that way... any from the Queensland area?

The cat5 cyclone is similar to the one that hit New Orleans. Hope you Aussies have the ability to get everyone inland as it will not be a storm you want to ride out.

Weird though we didn't get any weather from it down here in Bris, normally such storms up north QLD bring rain/wind to the entire QLD state. I'm only seeing it in the news, pretty powerful cyclone that one.

Get this, no-one was killed, and from what i can hear there wasn't even any major injuries. Wow.
I sent the Flying Spagetti Monster many psychic messages asking for his assistance for northern QLD, and it has clearly paid off. I'm a hero.

You're reminding me of a hilarious story Xaihyv made up years ago about a book that was going to be turned into a movie.
It was a fight -- "The Author" vs "Film Director". And Film Director was making it look worse than it was so that people would choose him to make the adaptation... I guess he was trying to prove that he could direct well.

I'll post the actual dialogue if I ever remember it.
