Does the ethernet and usb port work at the same time in my modem? I have a cable modem that has only two ports a ethernet and a USB. Can I connect my computer to the usb port and my Roku on the ethernet? Do I need a ethernet hub / router?

I'm sure Krom will know for sure, but I am like 100% positive you can't, unless your modem has some unique functionality. That's kind of the whole point of a router.

It would be extremely unusual if both worked at the same time.

However it is possible for you to hook up your PC and your Roku box so they both work without having to get a router: Plug the modem USB into the PC, and then plug the Roku box into the PC's ethernet port with a crossover cable, then share the PCs internet connection. The only problem is the PC would have to be turned on for the Roku box to work, and it is iffy if the Roku box will be able to handle the PCs NAT.
