Trying to hook up a Photosmart Premium Fax Wireless Inkjet e-All-in-One C410a.
The printer says the WEP key is incorrect but it's ok. Turned of the firewall. However it's showing a 169......IP address.
How do I get it to the correct address?

Re: Hooking up Wireless printer
Your router is denying access for one reason or another, the 169 address is the automatic private block that devices use when they can't find a DHCP server.
You said you gave it the WEP key, are you certain your network is using WEP encryption? WEP is rather old and weak, most wireless routers these days default to WPA/WPA2.
Additionally make sure your router is not set to use a private MAC filter and is blocking the printer because of that.

Re: Hooking up Wireless printer
I have a laptop and an ipod that's working wirelessly and it is an older router using WEP.
Also made sure the ZA had a spread between the IP addresses 192.168.1.1 through 10

Zonealarm won't have an effect on how your router gives out ip addresses.
Seriously, get rid of zonealarm.

Try turning off your encryption just to rule that out.
General rule of troubleshooting go very basic when you can then add stuff in as you go.
