Core Unlock..

Post by TOR_LordRaven »

I have searched this online and cannot find where anyone has even asked this question...

When you unlock cores (Say a Phenom II x2, and unlock the others to make it an X4) does that change the processor itself?

My system does not have a core unlock feature. Id like to buy an upgrade for my rig, Unlock two cores using one PC and then move that CPU to mine. Will the cores stay unlocked?

"Unlocking" a core is basically an operation between the motherboard and CPU.

So if your new rig uses the same motherboard and CPU, you'll still be able to access the "unlocked" cores. If you move the CPU to a new board, you'll have to redo the unlock.
