Libre Office.... fails my test...

I administered the spreadsheet test

=sum(a:a)

Column a had about twenty rows of =rand()*300

You can not reference a column in this version.

A bit of emotion:
Open office couldn't do it. Libre office is no better. I reference whole columns all the time, writing complex multi-nested functions, and forcing me to write a1:a500 is a waste... I was really excited when Ubuntu was switching to a new office suite, so I try it out like a kid on Christmas morning...

I'm sure everything else is great.... I'll be using it for the rest of the year and I'm sure I'll find lots of reasons to love it.... But for such a small thing, that Google Docs Spreadsheets and M$ Excel has, how is it possible they forgot?

I think the changes between Libre and OpenOffice can still be summarized by a short list of bullets, so I wouldn't expect miracles.

Yeah. Wine 1.3, in my opinion, has made greater improvements, so there's no reason not to just run Office. Google Docs is also really good, but limited in some areas.

Cost is the usual reason for people not to run Office.
