Someone has spent a lot of time in the Descent 2 code.
Visually and functionally better.
Loads of nice features like how many enemies and shields are left in the level.
Just have to get my banking set properly on the old Sidewinder Precision Pro 2.
D2X... very nice adjustments!

Yes indeed.SirWinner wrote:Someone has spent a lot of time in the Descent 2 code.
If you haven't done so already?SirWinner wrote:Just have to get my banking set properly on the old Sidewinder Precision Pro 2.
Go into the "configure" menu and select "controls". Then select "configure joystick" and select "customize".
You'll see at the bottom right hand side "Bank L/R".
Select it and hit enter. Then twist the joystick to bind the control.
Prepare for DESCENT!

Note that you probably need to center the throttle control first. Otherwise every time you try to change it, it will pick up the throttle axis instead of the twist.

Thanks for the updates.
Sadly the Throttle is under my left leg when I place the joystick on my chair. That is very very annoying... I never use that for thrust... Always use keys on the keyboard for that sort of thing as well as for everything except steering which is done on the Joystick!

After I figured out how this would work I couldn't help but huge-grin.

Been playing some extra D2X-XL, myself. Very, very smooth now.

Yes, I've been playing a lot more too (to the exclusion of D3 multiplayer ).

OMG! Finally someone who does not say "This isn't Descent anymore"!SirWinner wrote:Visually and functionally better.
Thank you thank you thank you!
/me wipes a tear of gratitude out of the corner of his eye
I have been doing some profiling on it recently, and could improve the code a bit. Getting it much further would require quite some effort though (which I should probably rather spend on digging into the Unreal 3 SDK). If I ever find the time, I'll probably be the one to build a Descent 4 like program, or TC.Foil wrote:Been playing some extra D2X-XL, myself. Very, very smooth now.
