I have a Win 7 Home Premium DVD.
I want to use it to install on my Dell 530.
It say on the disk "Licensed for distribution only with a new PC".
Can I use to install on another computer?
It's not loading and I've set "Boot device".

You may have to load special drivers for the sata controller. Go on the internet, and download them to a flash drive. Then load the drivers from the flash drive, when you go to install.

Re: Win 7 disk can I use again
Windows 7 has native AHCI support so unless he has the controller configured as a RAID the drivers shouldn't be necessary. Also a good reason to not use RAID controller mode when it isn't needed.
Re: Win 7 disk can I use again
I tried to load a new copy of Win 7 (store bought) and it gives me the same error but I can load Puppy Linix, Ubuntu, and Vista.
What's up with that?

Re: Win 7 disk can I use again
I just plugged in another DVD ROM using a USB to SATA and tried the DVD in there and it recognized it.
Must be that my DVD ROM was going bad.
Thanks for all the help. Can't figure why it was "seeing" all the other CD's/DVD's.
