Anyone into betting?

Post by Nightshade »

What're the chances this bill (if signed into law) will get struck down by some obscure federal judge shortly afterward? :)
PHOENIX - The Arizona Senate has approved a revised bill requiring presidential candidates to prove they are U.S. citizens eligible to run for the office.

obscure or otherwise, any Federal judge that doesn't rule it unconstitutional is deranged. Like with immigraton law, a State has no right to interfere with Federal Election law. More stupid grandstanding from a State that avoids it's real problems via partisan smokescreens. Nice to know they've got a handle on their depressed economy, state deficits and water issues and can focus on such matters......

A state bill can't affect federal election law at all. My guess (haven't read up on this) is that the bill simply restricts which candidates show up in the "U.S. President" section of the Arizona ballot.

Meh, looks like partisan posturing to me.

still, Foil, constraint in who can appear on the ballot IS an interference with the conduct of a Federal Election. And yes, it is pure posturing, serving as a convenient smokescreen in a state with real issues.

Arizona seems to be all about doing that recently.
