The Mothership has landed! RUN!
The Apple Mothership has officially landed to take over the world! We'll soon all be slaves, SLAVES (and they can already keep track of us too, handy)!

Here's the twenty minute long video of the Cupertino City Council meeting, if you're curious, detailing the back and forth haggling between Steve Jobs and the City Council members over the new circular behemoth of a building plan. Watch closely. The God of All COOL TECH showed up personally to make sure he got what he wanted. The next question, will he survive to see his massive baby built. He is looking a little gaunt these days.

I think it looks pretty good. I like the underground parking garage idea so the grounds can be mostly green.
I like that park in the middle of the building.
It would look better with a tower in the middle:

HP's loss is Apple's gain.

Re: The Mothership has landed! RUN!
they're going to have some serious logistics problems with that single piece of glass they're talking about.
Re: The Mothership has landed! RUN!
Single piece of glass? Are they insane? It better be reinforced.

Glad we cleared that up.
Re: The Mothership has landed! RUN!
They said they know how to make the biggest pieces of glass. They don't plan on making it all one piece - they only know how to make the biggest sections. It's a pretty amazing building. It's a little like a spaceship landed. It's got this gorgeous courtyard in the middle... It's a circle. It's curved all the way around. If you build things, this is not the cheapest way to build something. There is not a straight piece of glass in this building. It's all curved. We've used our experience making retail buildings all over the world now, and we know how to make the biggest pieces of glass in the world for architectural use. And, we want to make the glass specifically for this building here. We can make it curve all the way around the building... It's pretty cool.

ah see.. that wasn't there when i read it last time, so someone must have went 'oops' and corrected it.

I may not be the most impartial observer here, but this building appears less intended to expand office space than to serve as a monument to Steve's ego...?

Why not. Cowboy Stadium is a monument to Jerry Jones ego.Sirius wrote:I may not be the most impartial observer here, but this building appears less intended to expand office space than to serve as a monument to Steve's ego...?
