Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
I have an exe file created by Autoit that I have on a site that someone can click on to install LMI on their computer.
I need to update that script because the LMI install file is ancient and I want to change my LMI password. All I have on the site is the Autoit exe file. I also have a "au3" file on my computer.
Is there anyway to see the contents of the exe file so I can update it?
Must say this is out of my league. I can temporarily change my password to LMI, let remote user install and then change my password back after installation but that doesn't seem like a prudent idea since I have a bunch of remote users who trust me and my judgement.

Re: Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
you know windows comes with a system to send requests for remote assistance built in right?
Re: Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
The prob is I have 20 users or so on LMI. On Windows could I access them from any computer?
Re: Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
In my experience (which isn't massive, granted), LMI has been the least buggy remote desktop solution I've used. If you can figure out a way to keep using it, I would.
Re: Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
Amen! Been using it for years and haven't had a problem. But I'll ck out MS cause I may need something before...if and when I figure out this script stuff.
Re: Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
From what I read on the LMI forums, you can't do what you want to do with the free version of LMI. You need something like IT-Reach, or maybe LMI pro.

Re: Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
You can't remotely install the LMI program using LMI. They want you to pay for the privilege. But you can install the LMI program using a script because I've been using the LMI exe file I created for a few years now using one of the scripts I showed above.
Re: Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
Just tried Remote Assistance. It takes the remote person to do some things you will have to talk them through rather than the simple task of right-clicking on the LMI system tray icon and "Switching on".
But it will certainly do and it's free.

And further more..... I tried Remote Assistance yesterday with a friend who has a Sony VGNS360-360P running XP and Sony changed the Help & Support section and "Ask a friend" was not even there.
Ops! Maybe here on his Sony "Go into the "Accessories" and "Communication" sub-menus and select "Remote Desktop Connection."

Re: Script to install LogMeIn on remote computer
Remote Desktop Connection is subtly different from Remote Assistance (namely, it isn't multi-user and is client-initiated).
