Bump for the economy on the verge of going down the shitter because a bunch of fuckwads can't figure out what the hell they're doing?
Re: Obama compares Congress to pre-pubescent schoolgirls
bull★■◆●, they know exactly what they are doing. It's a small handful of people quite successfully controlling the mindset of a huge population. Mark my words, as soon as this "imminent threat" is finally solved, everyone will breathe a sigh of relief, republican and democrat alike. Not because we got good legislation or a good deal, but because the threat has passed.
Re: Obama compares Congress to pre-pubescent schoolgirls
That is the better way of putting it, but the saddest part is that the rest of them couldn't manage to rein in or slog through the psychos and get something reasonable out there far sooner. When the crazies can run the nuthouse, there's something very wrong.
And shock of shocks, they may actually have a deal struck. No tax increases at all, which seems rather unwise, but at least we won't have to deal with this nonsense again until after 2012. Now to see if it actually gets the votes.

You mean Obama won't have to address it until after his re-election attempt. The people who actually struggle to make payroll and pay bills etc. have to deal with it. We don't have special healthcare and transportation and housing given to us by the taxpayer...we are the tax payer giving that to him and the thieves in Congress! I'm just so glad they won't have to deal with it for a while!! It's such a flippin relief!!Top Gun wrote:.. What is the difference between wishing the taxpayers had bailed out Enron instead of letting them crumble and hoping the tax payers are forced to bail out congress so the U.S. doesn't default?
I mean beyond the scope of the results of each entity's economic collapse what is the fundamental difference?!?
In both cases the people in charge of other peoples money have basically squandered and stolen the funds.
Yet in Enron's case most of us cheered at the prosecution and ruination of the perpetrators where as in the case of Congress most of america defends, to the point of being blithering idiots, the excuses offered by the Congress for why they should be bailed out and not blamed!

that is, indeed, the very question. And, of course, the answer is: Because we slashed revenues and gave the money to rich people who really did NOTHING with the extra bucks that ever has translated in the past 11 years into employment. Oh, and we started two new wars without the revenue additions to pay for them, but that is sort of traditional in the US to do so.woodchip wrote:The big question is why do we need to borrow 30% of the budget? .

I'm glad to see that you would have rather had an election year that's already going to be a contentious mess turn into a clusterfuck of unprecedented proportions, Will.
So maybe the only good thing to come out of all of this was that Representative Giffords was on the floor of the House to cast a vote in favor of the bill. It sort of puts things in perspective. I wish she could have been able to make it two weeks sooner, since that alone might have helped us avoid this whole mess.

Here's a little graph for you as I know you lefties like to blame Bush for everything:callmeslick wrote:that is, indeed, the very question. You are looking at the situation from a very short sighted perspective to come up with that premise.Top Gun wrote:I'm glad to see that you would have rather had an election year that's already going to be a contentious mess turn into a **** of unprecedented proportions, Will. ...
I don't think that a 'less contentious' election is anything close to being a good reason for accepting bad legislation, bad representation, from our congress.
Considering the giant mess our representatives have spent us into, spending that in many ways was funded by a form of extortion, I think having a rough time getting re-elected is the very least they should be facing!

Keep in mind though, the budgets during Bush's administration didn't include the cost of the wars.woodchip wrote:Here's a little graph for you as I know you lefties like to blame Bush for everything:

Re: Obama compares Congress to pre-pubescent schoolgirls
I don't even understand what the graph is saying. If the projected deficit was that large before Obama took office, then wouldn't that put the blame on Bush--or at least off of Obama? Moreover, these types of graphs generally obscure that fiscal year '09 was actually still Bush's budget and included, for example, his bailout.

Because of Bush Administration cronyism that Obama has perpetuated and which still infests the EPA, state control of resources and a Republican Governor.Heretic wrote:So where is the EPA with all the fracking going on oh that's right the natural gas people got a pass didn't they, now people have bad water where ever the hydrofracking has been going on.
Something else that's already shut down, the FAA. So while Congress goes out for a little R and R, the government is losing millions every single day, while in the meantime, most airline passengers are paying higher fares because of taxes that are no longer being taken in by the government.

Which begs the question…if the FAA collects a tax from the flying public…why do they need funding from congress?
