KDE coolness.

Before I've always installed a whole new OS to play with KDE. Today I installed KDE standard next to my normal ubuntu 10.10 desktop. I was really happy that all my applications stayed put between the two desktops. I even was able to quickly find Microsoft Excel 2007 and load it up. This is a big difference because I'm more at home with Ubuntu than any other operating system out there. I can't stand anything else. But installing KDE with all my apps intact sorta makes me feel like I've only redecorated my home.

In comparison, Mandriva felt like I had left home and visited the moon. I'd like to visit the moon, but I would eventually look down at the earth from above. And miss all the places and people I love. So although I make like it for one afternoon, I don't want to live on the moon. /quote

There are some problems, but they're all related to not knowing KDE very well. I'm currently back in my regular Gnome interface, where I know every single shortcut and trick I've picked up over the year and a half. But I think I'll slowly become a KDE man as time progresses.

With gnome 3.x now out, I've been meaning to reevaluate KDE.

Sure. I'll try. Also, for KDE, I don't recommend the standard. It includes a lot of software I didn't need.
