I think you should do it with library books.

I'm setting the over-under on him getting fined for the value of the books at one week after the first one is returned, assuming he makes an effort at masking the fact that pages are missing. Do I have any takers?

I'm also thinking of chopping the book at the spine, so the pages are still bound.

For your own book: I think that the method of binding books is pretty tried and true. I wouldn't mess with it. Even if I wanted to put up a page as a poster or something, I'd scan and reprint.

You might find that you want the rest of the book at a later time, either for another class or for personal research.

I've decided just to leave the big books at home, and only study them there, which is a big change for me, since I normally spend most of my time on campus.
