Question on Enlightenment (BODHI) vs Xubuntu

For a long time enlightenment's biggest problems were file manager related.

Luckily, you can probably download and use a different file manager.

I personally use thunar. If you want something lighter-weight, try pcmanfm. I used to use pcmanfm... it had a couple things that i didn't like, so I went back to thunar.

I might try going back to pcmanfm.... I don't recall what exactly annoyed me about it, but it was super-snappy.

Cool. I might try that, but so far I've had no issues with the file manager.

I still haven't tried to install microsft office.

Silly man. MS office is for MS OSes.

On a more serious note: I believe that 99% of the office incompatibilities will be desktop environment independent. If it works for one machine, I'd expect it to work on any machine running the same kernel/version of wine. (you are doing it through wine, right?)

Oh yeah. I had to get the version of wine from the ppa, not the source proveded by the standard repos. But yeah, I'd imagine it'd work.

I've dropped Bodhi. Major problems with it. Moved on to Kubuntu... and oh my god... It is beautiful!

Before I stopped using Ubuntu, I was to the point of compiling wine myself from the latest git.

I also used Xubuntu for a while. If you're looking for snappy performance, Xubuntu will beat out Kubuntu.

Hahhaha! I tried Xubuntu 11.04 for 10 minutes off the live disk, while being basically content with Kubuntu. Switched to Xubuntu.

I would spend hours setting up Ubuntu a certain way. Xubuntu was made by someone very much like me. I don't even care about not having any desktop effects. That's how much I like it.
