How exactly could ANY president do any of this on his own? They can't. They can holler "Pass this Bill". That's about it. See, I'm hoping that people are actually waking up to this fact. OWS ;)

No incumbent president has won re-election with approval ratings below 50% have they ?

two have, to my knowlege. Truman and Clinton, I believe, although Bush was damn close in 2004. What has NEVER happened is a President getting re-elected with election day unemployment greater than 7.5%. Time will tell if Obama is the first. Enough seriousness in this thread, I did point out this was a FUN exercise. :)
