Bing Bar Update?????
I started getting a Windows Update prompt (Win7 64 bit) for the Bing Bar 7.0 and I don't even have the Bing Bar installed, at least that I can find anywhere on my system, not in add/remove programs. How can I get rid of the update nag? I don't want to install it, period, and I want to find out why WU thinks I need it in the first place. What program is it cuing off of then if not for the Bing Bar?

Just open Windows update and hide it.

Much thanks. I didn't realize I could right click on an update and hide it. Learned something new today.

You would think that but some people will still stick a piece of metal into a light socket over and over.

But what if it feels good?Heretic wrote:You would think that but some people will still stick a piece of metal into a light socket over and over.
OK smart alecs, my other 2 computers, both Windows 7 systems, one with NO previously installed Bing Bar AND the other, a laptop with version 5 of the Bing Bar, haven't received the update notice for Bing Bar 7.0. Now why is that?

Re: Bing Bar Update?????
Did you ever install a piece of software that bundled the bing bar at any point? Its something you have to keep an eye out for since a lot of vendors will try to sneak them by in a quick page of the installer.

Re: Bing Bar Update?????
No, at least not that I can find. There's no Bing Bar listed in add/remove programs or in Firefox addons either. On the other computer, it does have Bing Bar 5.0 installed AND Firefox nags that it is unsupported and disabled, but I've never gotten any update notice for that particular system. All 3 computers have the same settings as to what updates I allow WU to inform me about, namely only critical and important updates. I avoid any hardware updates from MS like the plague. They always screw things up and it's more reliable to get updates from the vendors.

Yeah, even I do that. Installing sound card updates has removed features for me in past.
