I know Australian politics aren't interesting to many folks on this board, ...but if you get secret voyeuristic pleasure from hearing the neighbour's fight, you might find the current events a bit of a giggle. (myself I think they're friggin' HILARIOUS!!)
Our current foreign minister (and former head of state) Kevin Rudd has just resigned his post while on a diplomatic trip to Washington because members of his own party are trying to get him sacked (by leaking video of him like this! - NSFW - LOL)
This guy was sacked previously by his own political party two years ago - while he was still prime minister - and his replacement Julia Gillard (who was central to having him removed) then promptly re-hired him as foreign minister.
Rudd is currently on his way back to Australia to challenge for the party leadership and thereby possibly become Australia's Prime Minister and our Head of State yet again!
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at my country's current leadership - so right now I'm doing both. ...what do you call it when an entire nation suffers such an epic fail??

I call it "Politics as Usual"
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

Cannibalism at it's finest.

Okay, that made me laugh.woodchip wrote:Cannibalism at it's finest.
What also makes me laugh is that this political party is currently a minority government - it only enjoys power because a tiny handful of independent senators currently lend it support.
If they do sack Rudd and he stands down from his seat, they would probably lose power altogether.
If they don't sack Rudd, he will challenge the current PM. If he wins, we will be heading back to the polls very soon, where Labor (the current party in power) will be soundly defeated.
The government is screwed no matter what they do, and it's all their own doing.
MADNESS!!
