Pleistocene Park

Post by Tunnelcat »

They've actually regenerated a plant that has been extinct since the end of the Pleistocene Ice Age, 30,000 years ago. Cool.

As someone that recently re-watched Jurassic Park I approve of all the references, here and on the link.

Wait until they recreate a Mastodon or Wooly Mammoth. They've been thinking about trying it, and some DNA has been found in frozen specimens from Siberia. A Mastodon skeleton was recently unearthed not too far from where I live. :P

In a way, bringing back mammoths would be righting an old wrong, since humans helped drive them to extinction in the first place. Guess they didn't watch the Discovery Channel back then. :P

The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and will come up out of the Abyss and go to his destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because he once was, now is not, and yet will come.
I've often wondered if that is what this is talking about. The re-cloning of a dinosaur. At this point I'm keeping my mind open, lol, I can correlate that Satan appeared as a serpent. They also say that dolphins have individual names, birds are obviously very intelligent and able to mimic the human voice. Whose to say that dinosaurs couldn't speak? Well, it's all fantasy unless they can actually do it.

Bringing the mammoth back would also have a chance of ruining any ecosystem it would be introduced into. Even if they did it, they'd have to keep it in captivity.

But in any case, animals are a LOT harder to do this kind of thing with than plants.

Well yeah, I don't think anyone would advocate for mammoths to be let loose and gallumph all over the place. :P
