Fast Kitty!
The fastest land mammal on record, an 11 year old cheetah. 100 meter dash in 5.95 seconds! The human world record is 9.58 seconds. Isn't that old age for a big kitty? Guess we'd be lunch in less than a 100 meters.

Cat (n.) A bipolar creature which would as soon gouge your eyes out as it would cuddle.
Re: Fast Kitty!
Very cool.
I believe 1 octopus could eat 3 cheetahs.

Re: Fast Kitty!
11 years is pretty old in kitty years. An 11 year old cat is equivalent to a 60 year old human. Think someone's 60 year old grandma could even do a 100 meters in a minute?

I have no doubt that that happened more than a few times back in the day on the savannah.tunnelcat wrote:Guess we'd be lunch in less than a 100 meters.

My cat sets a new land speed record every time his automatic feeder goes off. Actually since we started his diet, he runs to the food bowl so fast I think he has discovered the secret to faster than light travel.

Re: Fast Kitty!
A cheetah will live, on average, up to about 12 years in the wild and as much as 20 in captivity, so I'd say that'd be the equivalent of someone about 35-45 or sotunnelcat wrote:11 years is pretty old in kitty years. Re: Fast Kitty!
I was using the domesticated cat calculator to estimate cheetah to human years. The first year for a cat is equivalent to 15 human years. The second year of a cat life, you add 10 years and for every year after that, you add 4 years. But I'm not sure how that translates to larger felines. Probably the larger animal lives longer. I had a Manx cat as a child that lived for 18 years. It was still around when I went off to college, and after.

We used to have a cat that would charge into the kitchen if all you did was shake a Tender Vittles bag. She'd be anywhere in the house and as soon as you took out a bag and shook it, she's come flying in at the speed of sound and start twining around your legs with those soulful kitty eyes looking up at you expectantly. Then she'd get ticked off and start to climb your legs if I didn't open it for her right then and there. And if you put it back in the cabinet, she's get a really disgusted look and sit there yowling.

I gather he hasn't figured out how to jimmy the feeder yet and get himself the full supply of food.Krom wrote:My cat sets a new land speed record every time his automatic feeder goes off. Re: Fast Kitty!
Really? Well I'm afraid we can't just take your word for that kind of claim over here. I'll have to administer the examination. Don't worry -- it's completely painless. There are 12 multiple choice questions and one essay question. You don't need to pick one of the choices on the multiple choice -- you could make your own answer -- but it is encouraged because one of those choices is usually correct.
1. What is your appellation?
(a) Sir Lancelot of Camelot
(b) The Doctor
(c) Yvonne von Vaughan
(d) I like to pretend I don't have a name
2. G'Blanix
(a) True
(b) False
(c) Perpendicular
(d) That's inconceivable
3. If you became a carnivorous creature in a lab accident (not your own accident), what would you be?
(a) A Leopardus pardalis
(b) A very small wyvern
(c) A werewolf -- but one that's always wolf... or maybe a were-otherpleasespecify
(d) One of those mongoose people
4. What is question 5?
(a) A tiger
(b) The neverending path
(c) The sacred word
(d) Pristine wilderness
5. What is question 4?
(a) An electronic drumkit
(b) A spaceship factory
(c) A PTMC mine
(d) Antigravity pills
6. What is your objective?
(a) To create your own reality and overlay it over this universe
(b) To become a small, mysterious and not entirely earthly creature
(c) To seek the Holy Grail
(d) To destroy the mine and reach the exit in time
7. Are you some kind of maniacal killer?
(a) True
(b) False
(c) AIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
(d) Squeak
8. You're fighting a battle against a hostile alien force on icebergs floating in the arctic ocean. Where do you fight?
(a) In the ground forces, who are compromised against the aliens, as the aliens can fly.
(b) In the air forces, who will likely be smashed to smithereens by the enourmous chunks of ice rising out of the sea -- or else by the aliens' laser guns.
(c) In the water forces, who can only move across the water by swimming, or running really fast, because the aliens blew up all the boats and ships, and this area is too treacherous for any kind of watercraft anyway.
(d) As one of the aliens, because they have laser guns, and they can fly, and they can run really fast. They offered you -- and the rest of the Earth population -- the chance to join them and become one of their kind, after all.

(a) False
(b) False
(c) False
