The redditor that made this posted this on reddit with the title:
"I spent four weeks working frame-by-frame to produce the ultimate Mars Curiosity descent video. 30fps true motion-flow interpolation, color and detail enhanced, 1080p. A labor of love."

but i have absolutely no idea why she had to do it "frame by frame", surely there are algorithms that can do this kindof tweening (with motion prediction and all that) automatically.
edit: ah, the reddit page explains why so much manual tweaking was needed.

man whenever i see interpolation stuff i get so many ideas and then get mad that apparently no-one else has already implemented my ideas for algorithms yet, haha.
(but i bet if i immersed myself in it i'd just find out that "no dude, of course we've tried that, it doesn't work, that's why we don't do it, what do you think we're stupid?!". )
It's just soooo interestingggggg. But apparently not interesting enough to actually do for some reason? (urgh wtf brain, you make me look so dumb).
