Since 2012 is nearing and that the Descent gaming addiction has been growing over the net, Celestial and I rigged up an all new Descent Gaming League for all Descenters!

So long live the Descent Task Force aka DTF!

Celestial is the Admin and I am the Moderator as Obi-Wan Kenobi of this new born group and we seek new pilots from places all over the world, so yeah it is my duty to find new members for this cool new league

As for scored games?
We don't do that. It's not really important, since most people forget the score in the end anyways and it's all about having fun without an overdose of rules

As for the Servers, my three Dual Opteron based system can all host at once, making it possible to host 3 8 player games for a single night at the same time.
Each hosted game with have the name of the Server + the name of our league in short, you will get this as hosted servers:

Blue_01 [DTF]'s Game
Firefox [DTF]'s Game
Sveta [DTF]'s Game

Most of the time I will have 1 or two running but 3 is possible when it's really needed

For the ads? I use Firefox + AdBlock Plus and gone are the ads

How does this work? Do you require that all participants register, or is it just a way of getting open games started? If it's the latter I think this is quite a helpful initiative - I'm not about to sign up on the website (too many user accounts across the internet already) but I'll keep an eye on the events calendar at least.

Why DTF is better than the Rangers: They ACTUALLY LET YOU IN on games if you want to play a good round of Descent and there are no other games currently hosted. I tried various times to just join in on a fun game of Descent whenever a rangers game was up, but nope, I was denied every time. Given the middle finger if you will. My first thought: elitists. So I am so glad DTF is here who accepts anybody, member or not to enjoy an awesome game. Thanks Gold Leader!

If you have a problem with how the rangers are run DFW, take it up with them. I really don't want a rangers bashing in here.

The reason people don't get let into "scored" Rangers games is basically the same reason you're not going to be able to join an in-progress 1v1 ladder match; doing so would invalidate the entire point of the game. It's absolutely true that there is a need for non-"scored" games so that people can play pick-up games without all the extra work, and that's why the DTF is such a helpful thing for the community to have; but the reason for the Rangers operating like they do has nothing to do with elitism.

I'd put an FAQ up somewhere on "why are there all these games that I'm not being let into?" but I'm not quite sure what is the best place

DTF the Rangers have been around for a long time man, they're respectable, friendly and competitive guys, if you ever want a pick up game with them, just ask for one, i'm sure they wouldn't mind.

That's awesome flip, but I would like a little more variety in levels. Its one thing to master everyone in a playground you already love and know. But its quite another to go someplace completely unfamiliar and still master everyone. I am not saying this just to promote my own levels to be played (shameless plug), but just custom levels out there in general. How about make it a point to try two new levels to play in each week. Who knows? You might find new favorites you didn't know existed until now?

I like new levels, I wish Rebirth had auto-download for levels. Then any level could be played without wondering if everyone else has it or not. I guess with Rebirth's network overhead already being so high, many more 'optimizations' will have to be made before something as practical as that can happen.

+7 as those games go rofl, I had similar experiences, they seem to be very enclosed to themselves

So hereby Celestial and I are back to get this show up and running again, I as Obi-Wan Kenobi , but as some also know me as Gold Leader & Tylosaurus alike
