Real Classy

Post by woodchip »

I like this ad as it sums up all that is wrong with Obama and his tactics to get re-elected:

"A new video from the founders of a celebrated advertising agency features children “of the future” singing about the aftermath of a Mitt Romney presidency: A world where sick people are required to “just die,” the atmosphere is “frying,” gays can be “fixed” and “oil fills the sea.”

"The children, who stare blankly at the camera throughout the video, even take pains to explicitly mention that they blame “mom and dad” for all those horrors."

The last part is especially interesting as the children blame their parents. Smacks of being a step away from the Stalinist practice of encouraging children to tattle on their parents for the good of the country. For those of you voting for Obama, I hope you enjoy your "Brave New World" (Aldous Huxley)

I have to ask, have you been on this Red Scare trip for the past 50 years straight?

I think you mean Orwell's "1984." Have you even read either of those books? If you want to make literally comparisons between Huxley's work and Obama's presidency, I'm sure we would all love to hear it. At least this thread would be more interesting than another Obama is a communist muslim who is ruining 'Merica thread.

Yawn.

Ah, so you see no things to be concerned about. I guess we are further gone than what I feared.

I wonder if you read the book:

"production of such specialized children bolsters the efficiency and harmony of society, since these people are deliberately limited in their cognitive and physical abilities, as well as the scope of their ambitions and the complexity of their desires, thus rendering them easier to control."

Sounds like you would fit in rather well.

I still don't see your point. If the children are limited in "the scope of their ambitions and the complexity of their desires," why would they be complaining about their parents and the horrors of the Romney-inflicted world? Not. Making. Sense.

I'm far more concerned about you than anything else. Have you ever talked to a professional? I'm sure they'd find you a fascinating study.

The people that put this garbage ad together should be ashamed...but I know they won't be. Shame is an alien concept to leftists.

BTW...check out the 'like/dislike' bar on the video. I think that speaks volumes. :)

You know- if this video were re-dubbed with lyrics reflecting reality- ie: destroying our childrens' future by drowning them in debt we'll never pay back ourselves- it would at least be speaking the truth.

I saw at least two Romney ads this weekend saying that very thing ("destroying our childrens' future by drowning them in debt we'll never pay back"). Scare tactics is apparently the norm for this stage in the election.

I'm ready for it to end.

so let me get this right. according to recent political ads by DNC Pacs.

Voting for Obama will give you the same feeling that you got when you lost your Virginity.

and if you Vote for Romney then the children of America should rise up against their parents because their parents are idiots. quality ads they have there

because if you don't have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters.

If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things.

I think the difference is that drowning our children in future debt although might be considered a scare tactic. is indeed a fact

but I agree I'm done with the election crap. I'm just thankful I don't live in a battle ground state. :o
however I am sick to death with the political calls. My daughter is a registered independent. and we are getting 5 to 6 calls a day from the same number EVERY NIGHT :x and this has been going on for 3+ weeks. seriously we are getting 30+ calls a week sometimes 5 minutes apart. ALL FROM THE SAME NUMBER. if I could reach through the phone and choke someone I would

And the beat goes on. From a Michael Moore, Moveon.org video:

“And I want the Republican Party to know, if your voter suppression throughout this beautiful country enables Romney to oust Barack Obama we will burn this ★■◆● down. ”

“If the Republicans steal this election, I am going to track down Mitt Romney and give him the world’s biggest cock-punch…What’s the matter sonny, ain’t you never heard that phrase, cock-punch?”

“Right in the nutsack,” she adds.

ya gotta love hearing that from a Canadian in regards to American Politics

STFU and go back to Canada :P

and of course if Romney wins the election it couldnt be that the Messiah didn't live up to the expectations of the people. it has to be that those crooked republicans stole the election and suppressed the Vote

What is really going on is barring any major screw-ups, the economy should continue recovery for the next 4 years and both parties want to take credit for it at the next election (even though they have done nothing to contribute).

Exactly. Just as this election, both parties are blaming the downturn of the last several years on either the current or previous administration, depending on who you ask.

Downturn can be placed in Clintons lap when he signed the bill abolishing the Glass–Steagall Act. This allowed banks to treat loans as derivatives and lead to the banking/housing collapse. I guess he thought the people who enacted it back in 1933 were dumb and didn't understand anything about how people should be able to get a loan no matter what their income was.

As I've mentioned to people in the past, most people who know their economics agree that individual presidents do so very little to affect large economic changes on their own, yet they always get shackled with the credit/blame when things go well/poorly. It's probably unavoidable, but it doesn't make the pattern any less frustrating.

God I love you woodchip.

The Glass-Steagall Act was effectively repealed by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which was written and pushed by the GOP. It was a bill voted mostly along party lines---the Dems allowed it to pass after getting some other agreements by the GOP--and then Clinton signed it. So yes, technically you're correct, he signed it. But it was YOUR side that figured those old people that passed it were stupid, not Clinton.

So, if not for those three REPUBLICAN representatives, the financial collapse of 2008 may have never happened. Curious to think about eh?

You are quite correct indeed Cuda, that was more or less my point.

I know a lot of people think the people getting mortgages they couldn't realistically afford is the culprit of all this, but that pales in comparison to letting the mortgage houses also become investment houses.

The passing of that bill actually makes me laugh. The politicians that originally passed the Glass Act way back when knew how important it was to separate the financial institutions. Think about it, it only took those banks ten years of free reign to nearly destroy the American economic system.

Bush should've nationalized the banks that did all this and liquidated them. All their holdings should have been transferred to smaller banks and all the executive staff should have been permanently banned from working in another bank.
