Miner Wars out+reviews on STEAM
So I looked at MW on Steam, it's 20$ but then I started reading the forum posts about it. Seems the majority of people think it's still in beta and it has to always be connected to the net. Some users have serious issues like BSOD etc. Think I'll wait some more before getting it to see if it gets better.

I've not blue screened yet, but there are definitely a lot of technical issues. It also takes monster hardware. I have a Q9300 processor and a 5870 HD and I can't play on anything but Very Low or else FPS drops will literally kill me.
As for it being beta-like, it really feels that way to me. Unfinished is the best way to describe it. It's got the 6DoF vibe, but there are a lot of bugs. For instance, I lost the driller on a new ship I got, and I'm stuck as I can't load a mission right now.
I found out by chance that you don't have to always be connected, but you at least have to be connected when you start playing, at least single player. My Internet went out and my wife couldn't keep going on WoW, but I kept playing along in MW just fine. They claim no DRM, but come on... they used Steam. That said, they do acknowledge it's an issue that you can't start it without being connected, but no idea if they're going to do anything about it any time soon.

It's a shame really. Let's wait to see what they do to fix it.
