A Detroit city council member is asking President Obama to bail out the financially troubled city in return for residents’ overwhelmingly supporting his successful re-election bid.

“There ought to be a quid pro quo," said Councilwoman JoAnn Watson, according to My Fox Detroit.

CUDA, do you really think the administration takes such a request seriously? Is there any indication whatsoever that they would? Come on, rejoin reality, it will do you a world of good, man.

And they've been doing it ever since the development of political parties, so I don't really see how your point pertains.

No, Republicans don't anything so mundane, plebeian and sleazy as to buy the votes of a particular city. They strike right at the heart if the matter and gerrymander things to give their party the edge. :P

So gathering like thinking people together, is somehow worse than bribery or pandering?

I say we just abolish political parties altogether!

No, gerrymandering is always used to skew the vote in favor of the party in power, not make it fairer for democracy. And yeah, both parties do it. However, I like this local guy's re-imagining of gerrymandering theory.
