My Comcast ISP's smtp server was unsecure. I called them and mentioned it, and they were floored!

Hahahahahahaha!

Then they asked how I knew. :o

Why is that, Ace? They provide both my cable and Internet access, and besides overcharging for the cable (they have a monopoly in my area, after all), I haven't had too many problems with them. My Internet access is fast and pretty reliable; I've actually noticed fewer random outages over the past year. Don't diss what you don't have :P.

Ace is merely trying to jump on a bandwagon he thinks is there. Just give him a cookie and he'll go away for a little while.

Yeah, although I pay out the nose for Comcast, I'm generally happy with its service. They are prompt about answering tech support calls and the Internet service and speed is very reliable.

I had Comcast when I lived at home, been very happy with them. Verizon DSL on the other hand is a different story. Once Comcast is available in my apartment complex, I'll be switching back.

Instead of blocking the SMTP port, just shut off their internet access period. People that damn stupid shouldn't be allowed on the internet to begin with.

I had Comcast Internet for about 3 months. It was worse than dialup.

I had Comcast cable modem service for about 3 years and the connection was usually excellent. Plus it was free for a while because they forgot to bill me. The POP3 servers sucked, though.

I've been fairly pleased with my Comcast connection. The only annoying thing is they want me to pay an extra $5 a month for a second IP for my wife's PC.

I am glad they're considering blocking port 25 outbound though... less spam is always a good thing.

Id consider getting Comcast but their prices are too freaking much. You'd think that if they double the downlaod speed, they have another option to have the slower speed and pay less.

heh, just be glad you arent on the charter pipeline.

In my area they were bending us over by charging 70 bux a month for 1.5/128. to top that the techs were basic knowledge at best.

Lately tho, I have discovered that with them the more pissed off you act the better service you get.

My last tyrade scored me a 3.5/256 connect for only 40 bux a month. You wont see that in any of their published internet packages tho. lol

oh really.....read below.........i do have Comcast, for TV and it suxors compared to when AT&T was the carrier except for taking SciFi Channel off my package, and i will NOT get Comcast for Internet, ive only had a few problems out of BS for Internet and im very happy with it. ive only had 2 outages, and that was due to maintainence on the line up the street from my house.

nice try Nexus....but a cookie and me going away wont happen

4 times ive called ComCast asking to verify that in my area i would get the advertised 3.0/256 bandwidth.........first time the guy had to put me on hold and them come back tell me that he needed to consult with tech support on what bandwidth meant.

2nd time, i called......i was on hold for at least 30 mins and got annoyed by this and hung up

3rd time i called the customer service man was pretty knowledgeable, but couldnt tell me whether i would be guaranteed the 3.0/256 bandwidth in my area or not

4th time i called i couldnt understand the rep. period, talked very very quiet, i cranked up the volume on my phone.....still couldnt hear her.....asked her to speak up politely as i could not hear her.....she then transfered me to another rep(i guess she was offended by my simple request), who was the previous rep in #3 that still couldnt tell me if i was guaranteed the bandwidth as advertised.

ComCast = Teh Suxor, staffed by computer illiterate Customer reps, have "quick" attitudes, have to be supported by other departments just to answer a very basic question.

in the Cable TV aspect, when AT&T Ran the cable service i had 87 crystal clear channels from 2 upto 89, now with comcast as the carrier, ive lost 14 channels (including a few that i watched almost constantly) from the list and also about another 10 have become very fuzzy and have lost "Stereo" Audio capabilities. the only good thing Comcast has done....... brought back SciFi channel which AT&T Took off the list for my package

OVERALL = Teh MAJOR SUXOR of Cable TV, and Cable Internet
