Not really news to info-junkies but since alot of folks are in endless denial about it, here's the numbers...

I'd rather liberal than conservative. Then again, liberal doesn't mean what it used to, does it?

Perhaps this is true, but Sean Hannity's huge, whiny mouth makes up for it. :P

I'm not sure how it makes the media as a whole liberal. Just because the newsroom might be more liberal, doesn't mean the guy calling the shots can't slant it however he wants.

Got any other sites with the same statistic too? I mean you'd really have to do that to make a good case, and I really bet you could. But for now this paper's headlines include:
"Laura Bush: President Does Read Newspapers "
Such important headlines. No Kerry news though.

Show me that the owners & editors are all liberal and I'll give you a shoulder to cry on.

Birds, you know that's not gonna happen. all we're gonna get is a run around argument and a change of subject.

Well just to test your logic that the ownership makes a difference how about CNN? Ted Turner is definitely a liberal. Can we assume CNN is liberal.

As to your theory that a conservative owner or editor would counter a liberal talking head consider this:
I don't see how the ownership could keep a Dan Rather type from failing to ask the probing question that would endanger a fellow lefty in an interview. Or making the decision to not run a story, like say...oh...a rape allegation with coroborating evidence implicating a democrat president.

Sure they 'could' fire him but they haven't...and he is liberal...therefore the ownership doesn't seem to matter does it?

Birds, I get the impression you don't fully appreciate what you're looking at. The Pew Research Center for the People and the Press is the premiere research company for these sorts of studies and Editor & Publisher is the trade *bible* of journalism. Nothing I could add to that article could increase it's weight significantly. *shrug*

It's funny how the definitions of "Liberal" and "Conservative" has changed over the years. Liberal used to mean something like 'spread the benifits more equally to everyone regardless of income or other fiscal status... and having the government have a more interactive roll with the economy.' whereas conservative was the exact opposite. 'Keep the money in the pockets of those that earn it... keep the government small and have it's hands out of the economy.' BOTH of which are novel political ideologies.

Now it just seems that Liberal means "Against whatever the republicans think", and vice versa with conservatives. This high order bImageitch fight will last forever as long as people are brainwashed into thinking that there's only 2 sides to every political campaign. I'd vote 3rd party... but they're still as partisan as the rest.

How this is relevant to the topic, I have no idea... but just to think about news media... a Liberal medium is simply anti conservative, and a conservative medium is just anti liberal. It doesn't matter what or how they say things.

Well, I was more concerned with editors and people who call the shots, rather than the rank and file.

The survey included editors. Publishers are generally drawn from the administrative and advertising ranks within news organizations and have very little influence or interaction with the editorial staffs.

What I thought was sorta funny is that from our perspective the folks in the comic slant left but from theirs they are slanting right. I'm sure that presented somewhat of a conundrum to the artist.
