Just bought a copy, I'll take it for a spin once I have some time.
Re: Retrovirus Release Day: 31st January 2013!
The sp is interesting.
Movement is basically the same as Descent tho I find myself tri-chording by reflex but I dont think it does anything, nor does tapping the boost.....you just hold it down.
The weapons are less usefull/intuitive than Descents...I already am missing the exactness and effectiveness of them.
That said, I've only gotten the second weapon (shotgun) so far.
mp was easy to setup. I had to open a port for Mobius' server, but was able to join a bunch of co-op servers that were up with no problems.

Fighting villains is what I do!

thanks cli, but i've tried those about six months ago. absolutely terrible and they don't allow for the one feature I came to love with my n50. the ability to chord keypresses. Which means any sliding via d-pad is dead in the water and relegates itself to a simple desktop input device.roncli wrote:http://sourceforge.net/projects/nostromon50onvi/?
So now i'm looking at the G13 from logitech as a replacement.
Re: Retrovirus Release Day: 31st January 2013!
Interesting. I'm going to need to find my 50 and try it out in Win 8. I have no idea what happened to it, though. Solitha tried to use it to play D3, what, 11 or 12 years ago. We have collected so much junk around here that it's probably buried somewhere.
[edit]Took me like 5 seconds to find it. \o/[/edit]

So are you talking about being able to use the buttons like "shift" keys for the red/green/blue thing? Yeah, I got that working.
Re: Retrovirus Release Day: 31st January 2013!
well, that's always workd. But I mean pressing two, three, four keys at the same time. I've had slides on the d-pad, weapon selection on the index, ring and shifts on the pinkie, and movement on the middle.
But I'd still rather have the G13 because.. more buttons, and better functionality I found.

Just picked it up on Steam and installed. I'm sure I'll get into it over the next few days.

For anyone who's still wondering about how this game compares to Descent, here is a great (and wordy!) review by Darcshadow aka Ronin, which he wrote to answer that very question.

Retrovirus purchased today and installed (February 19, 2013)... now to get it registered with STEAM and get my Joystick configured properly for steering in it!

I haven't actually played it yet... I'll get around to it eventually once I get bored randomly blowing up stuff in Just Cause 2...

Krom,
Once you play Retrovirus, I'm quite sure that you will be addicted like we were in Descent!

I like it, has a lot potential. Needs some polishing and the developers are at it. Probabaly the closest you can get to Descent with a modern game. If nothing else, the $20 will get you some entertaining 8hrs or so in single player. I don't think your money would be wasted.
