I use Ccleaner but not the Registry area. Normally don't like to mess with the registry although I can back it up and also do a "Restore point" to be safe. What say you?

Ccleaner and the registry?
Re: Ccleaner and the registry?
Cleaning the reggie is way over hyped, unless you actually have a corrupted reggie.
Re: Ccleaner and the registry?
Cleaning a corrupted registry won't do anything... as windows won't boot with a corrupted registry.
Re: Ccleaner and the registry?
My reg isn't corrupted but probably has a lot of leftovers after deleting programs although I use Revo Uninstaller that does a god job of getting the stragglers.

Re: Ccleaner and the registry?
Registry cleaners really don't do anything worthwhile, and won't speed up your computer. Even the one in ccleaner really doesn't accomplish anything, clearing out the bits left behind from an uninstall isn't necessary since they won't do anything anyway even if they are left there.

Re: Ccleaner and the registry?
I've used it sparingly for cleaning bits left over from things I uninstalled and know shouldn't be left over in there, like some game entries. There will usually be a name that I recognize in the list. But there's still a lot of crap in there I haven't touched. Too chicken.

Re: Ccleaner and the registry?
Registry cleaners are more likely to contribute to Windows rot than prevent it.
