By this logic, until we discovered the element Uranium it didn't exist. Until we discovered fire, guess what? It didn't exist. Until the wheel was discovered, no such concept existed.

Yeah... right.

It also fails to take into account how one can discover something that does not exist.

Sure, that's not EXACTLY what that line meant because it wasn't aiming for a literal interpretation, but on any level it's ridiculous. Just because you don't know for sure what's out there or haven't proved it doesn't mean you can ignore it.
