So if you point out that someone is repeating the democrat spin that it was possibly right winger who did the deed you are somehow guilty of blaming democrats?!? Blaming them for what? For their hoping out loud that it was a right winger? If so then yes, that much they have done and is obvious so that isn't likely what you meant. So what blame do you think has been assigned here?Ferno wrote:woodchip wrote:Who was blaming the Dems?

Here's s picture of what the bomb bag looked like right before it went off. See the poor guy that's the 2nd person left of the bag in the grey sweatshirt? He's the one that was shown on TV in the aftermath being pushed down the street in a wheelchair with his leg blown off. Shows you that bag probably contained the bomb. I won't post the actual pic, but the Huff Post has the picture. Nasty.

you saying that he doesn't take every chance he gets to blame the left for everything?
*sigh* Guess I'll have to break it down then... "dem spin machine" A) accusing slick of toeing the line and buying into "dem" propaganda and B) implying that there is media spin in relation to this. Of course, anyone who's been paying any attention for the last three years would already know that it's from the department of the obvious.
well maybe woody can tell us what they're guilty of this time, no matter how left-field and tacky it may be.Blaming them for what?
Just so that no one goes 'well you haven't called any lefties out!', keep in mind that if someone, for example slick, gets too nuts.. i'll call him out too.

You said its probably a right wing nutcase, saying "might" is just hedging your bets. Now yor saying it may be a tea party member. make no mistake you totaly intended to blame the right for this attack. If you WERE a moderate you could have just as easily said it was a left wing group. But you didn't and you never do. No. It is satisfying to poke at the Islamohysteria Americans seem to have whenever some major terrorist attack occurs, because invariably it turns out to be one of our own who's the culprit, whether it's a leftist anarchist, or a rightist Nazi. Actually my guess is a leftist anarchist group. Either way, I wouldn't want to be either of those guys right now.

Two brothers, the sons of Russian Chechen immigrants. A lot of Chechens are displaced Muslims. I do think the ATF went overboard with their action, I'm not approving of their heavy handed response. But crap will probably happen when a group of people follow a crazy, gun collecting, charismatic leader with delusions of Godhood. Think Jonestown, Guyana. TC, there is nothing to be happy about. If anything this successful act of terrorism will induce more madmen to follow suit. For America there is no win here.
Re: Sadly
The sad saga comes to a end with the capture of the 2nd suspect. Now lets dust off the old Bush era water treatment so we can wring all the info out of him that we can.
Re: Sadly
Except, as a recently-released study has shown, those methods produced little to nothing in the way of useful information, and really only managed to further endanger our troops overseas. There are plenty of ways of getting someone like this to talk without using methods that stoop down to his own level. In any case, since the two brothers apparently told the man they carjacked about both the bombing and MIT officer shooting, it may not be an interrogation so much as a confession.

Ummm TG, there's more going on here than just 2 happy go lucky brothers tossing off a bomb for a lark. The older brother spent 6 months in Chechnya which is now a known AQ hang out. Funny, because the people actually involved in that hunt said we didn't need such tactics to get him, and would have without them. Yes, those are obviously important questions to have answered, but why would you jump straight to thinking that flat-out torture would be necessary to get them answered? We have absolutely no idea either way how willing this guy will be to talk (and as I noted before, the only evidence we do have suggests that they weren't exactly tight-lipped), and I'm fairly confident that the best FBI interrogators could get most of us to sing like canaries just with a few simple verbal tricks. Everything about this attack has suggested that these two brothers were rank amateurs, and I fully expect that to carry through to this stage of things.woodchip wrote:Ummm TG, there's more going on here than just 2 happy go lucky brothers tossing off a bomb for a lark. They conducted an attack that required them to be present at the site, in broad daylight, surrounded by tens of thousands of people, with the full expectation that they would be recorded by who knows how many surveillance cameras and cell phones, yet they made no attempt to conceal their identities. After the images were inevitably made public, they panicked, shot the MIT officer for no real reason, and then carjacked another individual, which brought practically every officer in Boston down on their heads. All the ensuing shootout managed to do was get one of them killed (and run over by his younger brother, no less), and while the other managed for the moment, he was already wounded, and the only hiding place he could find was discovered as soon as the residents were able to leave their homes. It'd be one thing if they'd planned this as a suicide attack, but they obviously wanted to get away with it...and yet they were doomed to failure at that from the moment that they showed their faces on Monday. Professionals they were not.woodchip wrote:Rank amateur describes the shoe bomber, the underware bomber and the guy who could only get the car to smoke instead of blowing up. And Panetta, when pressed, also agreed that the information that led them to bin Ladins location, by way of identifying his courier, came from torture. Of course he is going to say they would have caught him anyway he has no choice but to say that.Top Gun wrote:Funny, because the people actually involved in that hunt said we didn't need such tactics to get him,...CUDA wrote:Funny I don't think Bin-Ladin would agree with you since we got him with information obtained by enhanced interrogation.
However, without that information about the courier they would probably still be trying to find him....and yes, they might have eventually found him anyway....or not.
The article tries to lead you to believe they suspected the compound was a likely hideout but that is very misleading spin because no one knew of the compound until AFTER the courier was discovered and then identified and located! The person that gave the intel regarding the existence of the courier did so while bing waterboarded. If the courier hadnt been mentioned then no one would have been able to find him and follow his activity to put that compound on the radar in the first place!
There is no reason to believe the courier was going to be revealed by any other part of the investigation. If there was you can be sure that aspect would have been referenced instead of the weak spin they offered.
